Robert Handfield

Rob Handfield is the Senior Counselor of Supply Chain Management for NanoPhrades. In addition Rob is the Bank of America University Distinguished Professor of Supply Chain Management at North Carolina State University, Director of the Supply Chain Resource Cooperative, and Senior Counselor of Supply Chain Management at NanoPhrades.

Handfield has consulted with over 25 Fortune 500 companies, including GlaxoSmithKline, Freightliner, Boston Scientific, Delphi, Chevron, British Petroleum, Nortel Networks, Chevron Phillips, Lyondell Chemical, Conoco Phillips, Federal Express, Milliken, and others. He has published more than 100 articles in top management journals including California Management Review, Sloan Management Review, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Journal of Product Innovation Management, Journal of Operations Management, and Decision Sciences.

 

Joseph Howard Ph.D, BSc.

Joe Howard is the Senior Counselor of Operations Management and Intellectual Product Assessment/Development at NanoPhrades.

  • 85 publications in journals and books
  • Chairman and member of numerous national (UK) and international scientific committees
  • Consultant to major companies and organizations e.g. Los Alamos National Laboratory, UK Ministry of Defense, Shell UK, British Gas, US Government Working Party on the future development of national facilities in the USA
  • 23 years experience of introducing and managing innovation processes in small medium and large companies in USA and Europe.
  • Managed the selection, research and development of over 400 new products using techniques and processes such as QFD, Stage and Gate, Triz, Project Management, Six Sigma, Portfolio Analysis etc.
  • Implemented proprietary software system and business processes to manage every aspect of the new-product-to-market process (from ideation to final profitability and portfolio management) for the Melinex business in Europe, USA and Japan.

Michael L. Herman, APR, Fellow PRSA

Mike Herman is the Senior Counselor on Marketing Communications and Consumer Product Safety Commission compliance at NanoPhrades.

A former editor of Product Safety News and the Journal of Products Liability for the Institute for Product Safety, Mr. Herman held various management positions for the Insurance Information Institute and was assistant director for The National Driving Center, a medical research facility associated with Duke University. He also served as an executive consultant in communication, public affairs, change and crisis management to such organizations as The Independent Insurance Agents of America, Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., Union Carbide Corporation, Bayer Biologicals, Dominion Resources, PRAXAIR Corporation, Rhone-Poulenc, Nortel, Inc., GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals, Bell Atlantic Communications, ABB Corporation, Corning, John Deere, Novosymes and Longistics.

He is author of more than 50 nationally and internationally published articles, papers, and presentations in communication, public relations and management. He served as a member of the faculty in public relations at North Carolina State University’s School of Communication from 1986 to 2000 and currently is an adjunct professor in Communication and Change Management at Illinois State University. He serves on the Board of Directors for The Triangle Radio Reading Service and the North Carolina China Center, where he serves as interim President and Executive Director. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in journalism and a Master of Arts in public relations from the University of Oklahoma as well as post-graduate certificates from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and The Graduate School of Business at Columbia University.
